How to store files? racks, corrugated bits if cardboard, elastic in a binder, the holy board….best yet, 3D printed file trays.
The very strict file chaperone, never lets one file or rifler touch another. I designed and made these stackable and trays for small files, they are the best storage yet that I’ve come up.
I’ll possibly make some STL files available if there is interest.
Previous needle file storage methods included the proverbial wood block with holes (messy, takes up lots of counter space, doesn’t work for riflers), a binder with board and elastics (they fall out, a pain to use) and stuffing them in cardboard (worked well enough, but 1) doesn’t fit large ones and riflers and 2) you can’t see the file very well to select it)
For larger files, there are two racks made by milling slots into some angle iron. Its in front of the window as this still lets the light in but doesn’t use up valuable wall hanging space (my shop is crowded!) Its mounted such that is slops backward toward the window so files don’t fall out.
